Woken up black hole provides rare opportunity for astronomers

A monstrous black hole has reportedly woken up after 26 years, with repeated flashed of light coming from it over the past ten days. Known as the V404 Cygni system, the black hole sits around 8,000 light years away from Earth and has been described as a ‘once in a professional lifetime’ opportunity for astronomers to study.
