The Social Media Masterclass, scheduled for April 14, 2025, in London, extends This is Engineering’s mission.

The course will be delivered by the Royal Academy of Engineering and Mohammad Taher (@Mo_T_ivate – The Airport Guy), who educates a community of 480,000 people about engineering within the aviation industry.

This is Engineering works to demonstrate how engineering integrates with various interests and industries. The program connects movie makers, robot builders, and innovators across engineering disciplines, providing insights into the daily lives of practising engineers. Through this platform, the Royal Academy of Engineering has done a fantastic job highlighting the impact of engineering projects across different scales and applications.

The masterclass curriculum encompasses video production techniques for technical content, analytics interpretation, and platform optimization strategies. Participants will learn to develop their professional engineering presence online, understand content distribution algorithms, and implement effective community engagement strategies.

The program is now looking for UK-based participants pursuing engineering through apprenticeships, T levels, and undergraduate or graduate programs, or those already creating social media content but enjoying it and wondering how to take it to the next level.

Candidates must demonstrate active social media content creation experience and interest in developing technical communication skills. The Royal Academy emphasizes its commitment to promoting engineering education through diverse perspectives.

Participants will receive direct training from established technical content creators while building network connections with engineering professionals. The program focuses on translating complex technical concepts for broader audiences and understanding content analytics for performance optimization.

Application Information

The masterclass will last one full day at Prince Phillip House, London. The Royal Academy of Engineering offers the program free of charge and provides travel coverage for participants from outside London.

Candidates must submit a completed application form with two 1-2 minute video presentations. Documentation of current engineering status and a statement of intent for technical content creation are required. The application deadline is February 23, 2025.

This masterclass is part of the Champions Community initiative, which has established a network of engineering communicators who share technical insights and career pathways. The community addresses common misconceptions about engineering careers and education paths, aligning with This is Engineering’s broader mission to showcase the diversity of engineering opportunities.
