Students at Gillotts School in Henley have won the best robot design award at the FIRST LEGO League Oxfordshire regional tournament.
The Robot Turtles team – members of the school’s Robotics Club – competed against other schools from around the county, missing out on the main title by just one second.
The school’s Robotics Club brings together science, technology, engineering and maths.
FIRST LEGO League mentor and STEM ambassador Dr Kim Cave-Ayland (a control engineer at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy) used weekly sessions with the club to help support their efforts.
The competition was hosted by Oxford Brookes University.

We are thrilled that Kim’s video won the National Category in the Bristol Festival, which is supported by the British Science Association.
