Born to Engineers mission is to drive community-engaged learning, promote engineering and support the UKs next generation of engineers.
The ‘Born to Engineer’ campaign covers all outreach work by the ERA Foundation.
The campaign is designed to promote engineering and support the UKs next generation of engineers.
The ERA Foundation uses ‘Born to Engineer’ to support a wide range of Engineering and STEM scholarships and attempts to raising the profile of the engineering and manufacturing industry through supporting lectures, seminars and conferences, as well funding the “Born to Engineer” website and series of short films.
We also produce a number of careers resources to help students understand the different types of engineering available to them, how they can find the right path into an Engineering career and answer questions like ‘What Do Mechanical Engineers Do‘
We believe that supporting young people at formative stages of their careers is critical to address the Engineering skills gap.
Much of our work is with partners. These include Science Made Simple, Engineering Explained, Women’s Engineering Society, Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and Imagineering.
The ERA Foundation currently supports a range of actives.
Alongside our website and films we seek to raise the profile of engineering and manufacturing industry through supporting lectures, seminars and conferences and by sponsoring awards.
We provide sponsorship for the National Manufacturing Debate and offer regular support for events run by the Foundation for Science and Technologyand the IET’s Harvey Prize. We have also supported the R&D Society, Smart Club, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Physics, Royal Academy of Engineering amongst others.
The ERA Foundations Clark Prize recognises the important role those involved in education play in inspiring young people. The prize seeks to reward an exceptional teacher, technician or educational advisor who has gone the extra mile in motivating young people to consider engineering as a profession and career.
We have supported the Partnership with Education Award at The Manufacturer MX Awards, the Best Start-up Prize under the IET’s Innovation Awards and the EEF Manufacturing photography competition.
Do you have feedback or ideas for how we could improve the campaign? Have a question about a film or project we support.
We would love to hear from you.
