Drones fly above storms to track weather data

A military-grade drone is being tested by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the hope that it can be used to accurately track severe storms. The drone collects data on temperature, humidity and pressure by automatically dispensing canisters into the midst of a storm, and could be used to deliver more accurate forecasts in severe weather without the need for a crewed aircraft.
