Engineering Podcasts – Twenty Days (Amy Johnson Solo Flight to Australia)

Twenty Days is a an evidence-based daily diary of the highs, the lows and the unexpected incidents that the 26-year-old Hull hero Amy Johson experienced en route to making history with her solo flight to Australia.

The Podcast is a first-person retelling of Amy Johnsons 1930 record-breaking flight as she set off to fly solo from England to Australia.

The aim of the journey was to fly from Croydon to Darwin in a second-hand de Havilland DH.60 Gipsy Moth – Jason – and she had her sights set firmly on breaking pilot Bert Hinkler’s record for the same journey.

If she succeeded she would be the first woman to do so.

The Podcast is a great way to find out more about an often overlooked (even unknown!) early STEM pioneer.
