Want to get your kids excited about science?
The right STEM books at the right age can make all the difference. We have picked out two of our favourites to kick off 2019.
Stephen Hawking (Little People, BIG DREAMS)
by Isabel Sanchez Vegara (Author), Matt Hunt (Illustrator)
We love the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. The series is known for its stylish and quirky illustrations (and is packed with extra facts at the back).
The latest book – hitting shelves this February – focuses on Physic legends Stephen Hawking.
The book walks children through the life of Stephen Hawking; from when as a little boy, he used to stare up at the stars and wonder about the universe to him unlocking the biggest scientific discoveries of the 20th century (Hawking radiation).
The book is stylish and moving. A perfect gift to inspire the next generation of scientists.
100 Screen-Free Ways To Beat Boredom
by Kris Hirschmann (Author), Elisa Paganelli (Illustrator)
While 100 Screen-Free Ways To Beat Boredom – a favourite from last year – isn’t strictly speaking an Engineering book, there are a number of STEM-focused activities that will keep your child happy without a screen in sight.
If you are a teacher, parent, grandparent, babysitter, and caregiver the 100 activities, games, and planned events are a perfect to-do list to will keep your child entertained. While we love all things tech; we would be the first to say that a break from your phone, iPad, computer, tv or movie is going to stoke your creativity. Most of the activities use simple materials that you might have around your house now or can be found easily in a store.
